Unusual Leaders sought for Extraordinary Bodies

Extraordinary Bodies are a professional integrated circus company made up of performers of every age and every type of body. ?The company made a show for the opening of the 2012 Olympic Games, and they are bringing their new show Weighting to SpareParts at Fleetwood Festival of Transport.

Extraordinary Bodies work with communities in a number of ways, and one of these is by finding and developing local people who are unexpected leaders and activists. This means people who are not the usual suspects or those who have not had a chance to fulfill their full potential regardless of gender, disability, class, caring responsibilities or background.

Extraordinary Bodies are looking for people who are:

  • Disabled, or from a diverse/minority background
  • Interested in leading or activating your community
  • Has the potential or gumption to represent your community
  • Excited about contributing to a national network of unlikely leaders/activists
  • Well connected within your community
  • Committed to the arts as a tool for building communities

Extraordinary Bodies will offer an amazing experience for two unexpected leaders in Blackpool and Wyre, including:

  • A cash bursary of ?1,400
  • Hands on experience, training and bespoke skilling up
  • Professional coaching, mentoring and peer-support
  • An opportunity to join us in our exciting journey and ?run away with the circus?

What you will do with the company:

  • You will be ?on the ground?, working with and activating the community
  • You will be a link between Extraordinary Bodies and your community
  • You will come to a few events in Blackpool and Wyre including Extraordinary Bodies: Sings rehearsals on 20 June and 11 July, the public performances of Weighting on 18 & 19 July and community workshops on 20 & 21 July. ?You’ll talk more about these events and dates with the company if you get selected.
