Staff Changes at LeftCoast

Two members of the LeftCoast team, Executive Director Julia Turpin and Kerenza McClarnan, Creative Engagement Manager are moving onto new opportunities.

After nearly three years Julia Turpin and Kerenza McClarnan will be moving on from LeftCoast at the end of July. Julia helped create LeftCoast’s vision, organisation and overall programme of work while Kerenza developed and led the innovative creative engagement programme across Blackpool and Wyre .

Julia said, “LeftCoast has been a great opportunity for me to be part of a collective programme of cultural change, working with a team of passionate people to accelerate growth in aspiration, skills and importantly audiences.? The role of the arts has never been more important as a platform to bring people together in times of change. ?Arts Council England’s investment in Creative People and Places across 21 areas around the country has been a pivotal step in making sure “Great art” can be experienced by “everyone”. I have had the privilege of working on some extraordinary projects with some exceptional people over the last three years and I am very much looking forward to seeing what happens next in Blackpool and Wyre.”

Kerenza said, ?I have thoroughly enjoyed my time as Creative Engagement Manager at LeftCoast and to be given the opportunity to work with the wide variety of artists, community groups and creative individuals across Blackpool and Wyre. In my time there has been some fantastic work produced and more importantly some crucial relationships formed between artists and communities. I have loved living and working on the Fylde Coast it is a special place for both myself and my family. I look forward to coming back regularly to see what you are all up to.?

John Donnellon, Chief Executive of Blackpool Coastal Housing said, “Julia and Kerenza have played pivotal roles in developing Left Coast as an organisation to help raise the profile of arts across the Fylde coast. More people than ever are engaged in new and interesting artistic activity and the skills base has been developed to ensure the area continues to see new developments in? the arts. They can both be proud of the impact they have made and the firm foundations they leave behind as they move on to new opportunities.”

Michael Trainor will continue to lead the LeftCoast Programme moving forward.

Both Julia and Kerenza will be missed by the team and they depart with all our good wishes for their new endeavours.
