LeftCoast have created an Assistant Producer role as part of LeftCoast Studio. To fill this role, we are looking for a person to develop their skills by assisting lead artist Dan Fox , LeftCoast and King Edward Residents group to realise their vision for a new interactive light commission in October 2017.

As part of LeftCoast Studio we offer professional practice development opportunities at 3 levels Associate, Assistant and Placement ? this is an assistant level role and as such is not paid but the person selected will have all travel and subsistence expenses covered for their time working with us. This is an opportunity to gain experience assisting innovative artists who are creating a new site specific work, bespoke to the North Shore area of Blackpool.

The role will include supporting the artists and project partners as they develop, create and stage the new work which will be presented at a one day event in October. You will be needed for a total of 6 days during the summer and autumn leading up to & including the event.

The new work includes elements of light, projection, outdoor art and heritage, so if these are areas you are interested in, this might be the opportunity for you.

We need a person with a pro active attitude who is happy to be flexible in their approach to supporting the project. It would particularly suit someone who is interested in co-commissioning models, or creating work with communities. This is an ideal opportunity a recent graduate or current student at FE or HE level, or someone who has good organizational skills and is interested in trying out a creative career and wants to gain some exciting on the job experience. The opportunity might include jobs such as:

  • Checking locations
  • Liaising with community group
  • Practical support such as helping install
  • Researching local queries
  • Supporting the artists when they are on site
