Growing People is LeftCoast?s large scale creativity and growing?programme designed to get local communities thinking?differently about their green spaces while working with artists?to explore all that growing, cooking and eating can offer.

Over the summer artist collectives Squash Nutrition and Avant?Gardening will be working across Blackpool Coastal Housing?s?Grange Park and Mereside Estates to develop exciting projects?with residents that transform their green spaces.

Activities are as follows:

Friday 25 July?

Pod roadshow ? I Love Strawberries ?10- 12pm ?and 1 – 3 pm?
To celebrate strawberry season and to mark the beginning of Summer Camps Squash will be sharing Strawberry love across Grange Park Estate.
The pod will be loaded up with field fresh Strawberries and Squash team will be serving up the fruit of the season ?. along with some great strawberry recipes ideas and news about up and coming camps over the summer.
Squash Team walk and drive around the estate with pod ? stopping at key points around the estate.

Wednesday 30 July
Chepstow Road

Summer Camp 1 ? Take a ride, rewind, recycle
Donkey Rides ? 11-4pm
Creative composting ? from ?donkey manure to kitchen waste
Sustainable growing ?? creating self -watering containers from recycled bottles
Camp kitchen ?- with food waste focus ? making the most of leftovers.
Wild Things Walk ? taking a walk around the area ?footpaths around St Mary?s on the hunt for mini-beasts

Summer Camp 2 ?- Teas, Bees and Trees Camp
Cherry Tree Caf? ? fruits of the season from the cherry tree camp kitchen
Teas and Tinctures ? culinary and medicinal uses for herbs
Beauty and the Bee ? observational hive, honey tasting and products of the hive
Ice ice baby ? lolly ices, slush and honey ice creams.

In Grange Park Squash will be setting up a summer camp with?food related activities such as camp kitchen and outdoor?cooking, forage workshops, wild food and green crafts. In?Mereside Avant Gardening will be bringing their ?Operation Deep?Freeze,? an ingenious ice cream making machine which local?residents can use to create their own flavours while exploring?the green spaces of their estate.
