Fleetwood kids treated to a Science/Arts mash-up at the Mount Pavilion

LeftCoast?s free Saturday afternoon workshops at The Mount Pavilion in Fleetwood are back from Saturday 25 April for a six week programme, and this time there?s a science/arts mash-up in store for kids itching to get creative.

Kicking off the action for the first two workshops will be artist Jim Bond who will be giving kids the chance to explore the science behind the weather with two workshops designed to get you making and thinking at the same time. Saturday 25 April will see children creating their own anemometer to measure wind speed before working as a group on Saturday 2 May to create a weathervane to find the direction the wind is blowing in.

Things will be getting loud on Saturday 9 and 16 May with Noisy Toys as they teach you all about creating musical instruments from junk. Kids will get the chance to experiment with sound, electronics and taking things apart before creating their own original music and soundscapes.

For budding technologists Saturday 23 and 30 May will see RasperryPi specialist Les Pounder showing just what is possible with this tiny and affordable breed of computer. Send your RaspberryPi to space, across the ocean, build robots and projects based on Science and Arts ? and all with a computer that costs only ?35 to buy (equipment provided).
