We are looking for two highly-motivated Community Producers to help us deliver a dynamic programme. You’ll collaborate with local residents, commissioned artists and neighbourhood partners, working alongside our Creative Producer and Artistic Director to explore new ways of making and sharing arts and culture.
Background
We are about to embark of our fifth funding phase in the twelfth year of LeftCoast. The structure of our programme has organically evolved in response to collaborations with residents and community partners. Where once our programme was structured with a hyper local neighbourhood focus that reflected residents preferences to stay in their own neighbourhoods, we now see far more movement and collaboration between residents. We see commonalities in interests, ideas, concerns. So while we still retain a local neighbourhood presence as the foundation of our programme we have structured our next phase around themes rather than geographical locations. This is how our creative rights strategy emerged. All areas of our programme now fall under one of four rights:
- The Right to Beauty
- The Right to Grow
- The Right to Space
- The Right to Wonder
We are looking for Producers who are excited about exploring this new concept with us. You will need to be an energetic and communicative individual who is well organised and passionate about working collaboratively with lots of different people from all walks of life.
The Community Producers will be an integral part of our LeftCoast team and be supported to employ arts and culture as a means to engage with a wide range of people across Blackpool neighbourhoods relative to our programme.
Key Activities:
- Hold space for creative conversations between artists and residents
- Support artists and resident collaborations to test and elevate ideas, ensuring quality engagement and production of work.
- Collaborate with our neighbourhood partners (e.g. Blackpool Coastal Housing, Groundwork, Volunteer Blackpool, Revoelution etc) to ensure commissioned projects have lasting impact and resonance with them and their wider community
- Develop and support targeted activities with those new to the arts to help achieve LeftCoast project outcomes
- Play an active role in our headline and responsive commissions
- Work alongside the LeftCoast team to consolidate practice and share learning
Key Responsibilities:
- To identify participants and audiences to work with as they emerge through partnership work with individuals, communities and local 3rd sector organisations
- To proactively enable communities to self-organise, commission artists, solicit resources and make decisions for themselves about arts and culture in the place where they live
- To be responsible for risk assessing engagement activity and developing event plans for programmes of work
- Administrate and report/monitor/evaluate any activities delivered
- To work with our Communications Officer to provide content to promote LeftCoast projects in a sensitive way
- Provide support to partners ‘on the ground’ and LeftCoast’s Creative Producer to advise ongoing creative approaches for working in targeted areas
- To identify key areas of focus as well as linking into wider community initiatives
- To manage programme budget attached to this work and report back to LeftCoast Creative Producer and Director of Operations.
- To be self-managing in terms of administrative support and delivery e.g. creating event plans or risk assessments, distributing and collating monitoring and evaluation materials
- To work flexibly and outside of usual office hours on an occasional basis
